Interim Head of HR – London – Up to £400 a day – 6 months initial contract

A specialist professional services business, with an impressive global client base and headquartered in Central London, is looking to appoint an Interim Head of HR. This owner managed business prides itself on their holistic approach to innovative solutions resulting in the execution of complex projects, ensuring exceptional levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.

The Head of HR is a newly created role, with the focus on continuing to develop a high-performance ethos and working with the leadership team to devise and deliver a robust people strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • People / HR – you will act as the all-encompassing HR and recruitment expert, championing best practice and guidance on all people related matters, both in the UK and across international territories. You’ll be hands-on and ready to roll your selves up and get stuck into every aspect of HR, transactional and strategic. You’ll take ownership of people development/performance management and support the senior leadership team with any projects to make the business even better.

  • Culture – you will ensure that people are at the heart of every business decision. What the business has created is special and they want to protect and nurture their amazing culture as the business grows. You will measure employee engagement through feedback, pulse surveys and sensing the vibe and you will do everything you can to engender a positive and growth mindset for everyone.

  • Recruitment – you’ll be hands-on and responsible for bringing great people into the business through a rigorous hiring process. You will achieve the best candidate experience possible, whether they are successful or not, and drive a positive onboarding process.

  • Learning & Development – there is a business desire to invest in employees and create a culture of continuous learning and personal development. You will ensure all team members have the tools they need for personal and professional progression and have a vision and a pathway for future success in the business.

Key skills and experience:

  • You’ve done this before – successful track record at a similar level and will know what it’s like to work in a small business and what it takes to build a leading HR function in a small but growing business.

  • Be great to work with – you will offer humility, high emotional intelligence, be constantly curious, want to develop and be a committed team player, as well as being able to work with the strictest confidence, gaining trust quickly through your own personal values.

  • Practicality – you will come with strong knowledge of HR theory and employment law, gained through your own experiences. You know what works and be able to judge when to employ certain strategies.
