L&D Manager – Tech start-up – Up to £65k – London

A fantastic developmental opportunity has arisen for a capable L&D professional to join a tech company in their post-start-up phase. Part of a global business c.1000 strong, the headcount in London is c.300 and this role is to set-up and grow the L&D function.

While you will need to be an accomplished L&D professional with experience in a tech start-up business, this is absolutely a developmental opportunity; the business is continuing to grow and the expectation is that you will grow and develop in post.

You will be reporting into a a business director rather than HR which makes sense given the client groups you will be focussing on initially. This director is a true people person with a very interesting background. To get them on board with your ideas you will need to back up your plans and vision with data.

First and foremost the purpose of this role is to build an L&D function. You will be the first L&D professional in the business and will be working with head-of level stakeholders and across multiple disciplines. You will need to have experience influencing leadership in an environment where priorities can change at pace and must be able to really drive projects through to completion.

E-learning will be a significant part of the learning offering for many practical reasons and therefore a priority for you. You will need to be able to open an e-learning module and have a good understanding of digital learning. Candidates who have never designed e-learning must have a very good understanding of digital learning but ideally you will have already have done at least a little bit of design yourself. It is imperative that you understand what makes impactful and effective digital learning and how it needs to be tailored to different audiences.

  • Experience in the tech/online markets.
  • Tech savvy L&D professional with Succession Planning, Talent Identification and Development experience.
  • Driven cultural transformation using established and proven models and methodologies.
  • Experience of dealing with demanding stakeholders in a fast paced environment.
  • Self-starting and pro-active individual with a highly engaging and interactive delivery style.
