After more than 10 years recruiting across the HR market, we’ve worked very closely with organisations undergoing transformational change. It’s clear that over the past two decades, the discipline of change management has been molded and evolved to align with now commercially driven HR functions.
In order to see just quite how things have progressed we took the time out to speak with some of our clients, from Global FTSE 100’s to trendy tech start-ups, who are currently undergoing business, technology or HR change.
First off, we were able to gain some context as to why these businesses felt it was necessary to evolve as they were. Key findings were as follows
1. Economic changes – there is a constant need for Senior Leadership to steer HR functions through the changes in the economy and particularly consider the impact this will have on the overall business and their employees.
2. Competition – today even more so, there is pressure to keep up with, or ahead of, your competition. If even one competitor changes the way they do things, it won’t be long before you will soon have to adapt those same practices.
3. Technology changes – it doesn’t take a genius to recognise how new advanced technology is becoming more so prevalent in this day and age, seen to be taking over “washed out”, elongated manual processes. Implementing a brand spanking new technology is all the rage right now!
4. Fashion – Sometimes things simply go out of fashion.
So what exactly did they identify as some of the biggest trends?
The reality today is Change and Transformation is prevalent in all businesses regardless of industry, company size or in fact the nature of change. And the intriguing thing about this?…no two businesses are the same!
